Voice Powered Technology (1990-1994)
Chairman, CEO and Founder
Voice Powered Technology was the company that developed the world’s first hand-held voice-recognition powered consumer electronics, the VCR Voice and The Voice reminder. I took the company public through an IPO on the NASDAQ; it was eventually sold to Franklin Electronics.
- Patented the technology behind the invention.
- Used Investor Direct Offerings to raise millions in working capital prior to launch of the company.
- Sold direct through multiple channels (infomercials, catalogs, nationwide chains, international distributors).
- Sales leaped from zero to $24M in 18 months.
- Stock jumped from $4.25 to $10.00 (market cap near $70M) prior to my retirement.
